The Hoop Lab Way

Development First.
Always.

New Jersey is packed with AAU and travel basketball programs. Players have no shortage of teams to join, tournaments to play or games to compete in. But playing more basketball games doesn't automatically mean you're developing more as a basketball player.

Chip on My Shoulder is built differently. Every player trains directly with Zach Leach each week in a small-group setting. Performance training with Collis Spann. Team practice with a dedicated head coach. Hoop Lab Group Classes and Shooting Lab. Selective competition that tests what we've built — not tournaments just to fill a schedule.

The goal is simple: players who look noticeably different after a year in this system.

What's Included

Everything You
Need to Develop

🎯
Weekly Development with Zach
Train directly with Zach Leach each week in a small-group setting. Groups stay around 5 players. Individual skill work, shooting, footwork, decision-making — guided by what we see in practice and competition.
Min 2x per week
⚡
Performance with Collis Spann
Speed, strength, explosiveness, movement and athletic development with Collis Spann — owner of SPS Fit in Morganville, NJ. Coaches All-Conference and All-American selections, pro basketball and football players.
Up to 2x per week
🏀
Team Practice & Concepts
Spacing, defense, transition, small-sided games and game preparation. A dedicated head coach leads team practice so players learn how to apply their skills in real game situations.
Min 2x per week · Starting March
📅
Hoop Lab Group Classes
Access to up to 4 Hoop Lab Group Classes per week. Small group, ball-in-hand-always, skill-focused sessions — the same system used from youth players through the professional level.
Up to 4x per week
🎬
Film, Teaching & Evaluations
Film sessions, teaching moments and recurring player evaluations throughout the year. Development is tracked, addressed and improved — not just observed.
Ongoing throughout the year
🏆
Selective Competition
We pick tournaments that challenge our players and reveal what needs work. We don't fill weekends for the sake of it. Competition tests development. Then we come back and fix what the game showed us.
Purposeful · Not just to compete

Who We're Looking For

Gym Rats.
Workers.

We are looking for players who love being in the gym, want to be coached, compete, work through frustration and genuinely want to get better. Talent matters — but talent alone isn't enough.

You show up every time. Not most of the time.
You respond to coaching. You don't need to be convinced to work.
You have a chip on your shoulder and something to prove.
You compete in the gym as hard as you compete in games.

If that's you — there are still spots available. Season starts November 1.
